"È difficile riuscire a essere liberi con una canzone – riuscire a farvi entrare tutto. Le canzoni hanno troppi limiti... Woody Guthrie una volta mi disse che le canzoni non devono essere tali, ma si sbagliava; devono avere una forma, per potersi adattare alla musica. Si possono modificare le parole e in parte anche la metrica, ma una struttura deve pur sempre esserci; ho raggiunto un maggiore grado di libertà con le mie canzoni più recenti, ma nonostante tutto mi sento ancora limitato. Ecco perché scrivo un sacco di poesie, se questa è la parola giusta per indicare ciò che scrivo; la poesia può creare da sé la propria forma"





non perdo tempo a scrivere quanto lo amo o quanto è importante la sua musica per me..scriverei lunghissimi e sciocchi papiri,faccio parlare le sue canzoni che é meglio.

Forse l'affermazione è troppo perentoria
